Binghampton Development Corporation

Mission: To improve the quality of life in the Binghampton Community through a holistic strategy addressing economic, educational, and social challenges.

Vision: To follow the model of sacrificial love of Jesus Christ and the biblical principle of gleaning to break the yoke of economic bondage, particularly for vulnerable seniors and children, within a collaborative fabric of organizations serving this holistic neighborhood.


Program Highlights

  • Community Bus: Offers flexible transportation options for educational and character-building opportunities.

  • Economic Development Initiatives: Includes the Greatest Gift Christmas Store, Tax Increment Financing, and the Binghampton Gateway Center.

  • Property Development: Acquires and develops blighted properties for housing, commercial, and community assets.

  • Recycling/Warehousing Job Training: Provides on-the-job training and discipleship, along with financial literacy education.

Community Impact

  • Successfully developed a three-year strategic action plan with community input.

  • Launched new apprenticeship programs and expanded the mattress recycling program through the BDC HUB.

  • Revitalized the Kaleidoscope Kitchen, which now supports a 20-week pre-apprenticeship culinary program.

  • Addressed housing and economic development through the Tillman Cove project and incubated small businesses like Herman Powell’s lawn care services.

  • Initiated youth employment programs, providing work habits and skills training to local high school students.

    • Pray for the Gospel to advance in Binghampton and for lives to be transformed through encounters with Christ.

    • Pray for encouragement and renewal for staff amidst challenges of addressing systemic poverty.

    • Pray for wisdom in integrating 219 new Tillman Cove residents and exploring new job training ventures.

    • Donate new, unwrapped toys for the Greatest Gift Christmas Store to provide a dignified shopping experience for families. Toys can be purchased from the BDC Amazon wish list.
