Economic Opportunities, LLC (EcOp)
Mission: To serve as a catalyst for long-term career success and economic empowerment in the Greater Memphis Area's low-income communities, creating sustainable career pathways for justice-impacted individuals.
Vision: To empower individuals to navigate their own career paths, break cycles of recidivism, and achieve sustainable professional success through skill development and intensive support.
Program Highlights
Job Placement: Connects participants to local employers, including Barnhart Crane, Bryce Corporation, and Standard Construction, ensuring smooth transitions into the workforce.
Supportive Services: Includes life coaching, mentorship, and case management to address barriers like housing instability, transportation, and mental health challenges.
Shepherds Work Program (SWP): Provides recruitment, onboarding, work readiness training, credentialing, job placement, and intensive supportive services to justice-impacted individuals.
Work Readiness Training: Participants complete 24 hours of training focused on soft skills like time management, communication, and teamwork.
Credentialing Programs: Offers certifications in high-demand sectors such as robotics, fiber optics, and machining in collaboration with the Center for Industrial Excellence.
Community Impact
Achieved an 89% success rate in reducing recidivism among 444 participants, saving the state an estimated $3.1 million in incarceration costs.
Facilitated the hiring of 67 new participants and transitioned 21 graduates into full-time employment with living wages.
Participants completed 308 program goals, 66 life plans, and 202 devotional sessions led by shepherds.
