Foster Village Memphis
Mission: To provide a village of support for children and families experiencing foster care, adoption, and kinship care by equipping them with critical necessities, connecting them with ongoing support, and advocating for community engagement beyond the system.
Vision: To bridge the gap between foster families and those who want to help, fostering a community where no child or caregiver feels isolated or unsupported.
Program Highlights
Equipping Families: Supplies Welcome Packs with essential items for children entering care and offers training for caregivers, including trauma-informed care workshops and parenting classes. Upcoming initiatives include Meal Train support and therapeutic training for teens.
Connecting Families to Community: Hosts monthly support groups and quarterly family gatherings, providing opportunities for caregivers and children to connect, share experiences, and find respite. Plans to launch a Teen Connect program to address the unique needs of teenagers in foster care.
Advocacy and Awareness: Raises community awareness through events like the annual lemonade stand campaign and educational outreach to businesses and churches. Plans to host advocacy events for caregivers and children to promote self-advocacy skills and address unique needs.
