Ephesians 5:21-28 are problematic verses because, for years, Paul's call for wives to submit to their husbands has been historically used to oppress women to elevate the power and authority of men. It has been used systematically as a weapon to degrade women and strip them of their dignity and their status as image-bearers of God.
